Our Union's Beginnings and Growth

Originally organized in January 1998 with our original 13 members and chartered with the International Association of Firefighters (I.A.F.F.) as Local 3827. The local was formed as a result of disagreements regarding firefighter compensation, benefits, and working conditions. Once organized, the membership was able to proceed into collective bargaining agreements with the North Greece Fire District.

Our membership and staffing began even prior to our union chartering with four groups, each assigned two firefighters to cover the entire district out of two separate stations. Since then, we have grown to a staffing of nine firefighters covered by Local 3827, one Captain and two Lieutenants and one Battalion Chief per group, covered by our partners with the Greece Uniformed Fire Officers Local 4640, all responding out of three stations on two engine companies, a truck company, and battalion chief.
