LUCAS Device Donated To The North Greece Fire District

January 15, 2023 - North Greece Professional Firefighters Local 3827 proudly presents and donates a Stryker Corporation, LUCAS 3 mechanical CPR Device to the North Greece Fire District for use and deployment to the residents and visitors of the North Greece Fire District, Towns of Greece and Parma, and beyond.

The Stryker Corp. LUCAS 3 Device is a mechanical Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) device that is applied by personnel in the event of a cardiac arrest. After the application of traditional manual CPR, the LUCAS 3 can be applied. Benefits of this device are multifaceted, providing a constant compressing action resulting in maintenance of an adequate blood pressure to better provide oxygen-rich blood to the brain and vital organs of the body. The device delivers an over 60% increase in blood flow to the brain than manual CPR and is tireless throughout the working period of an incident providing nearly zero interruption of compressions for personnel rotation, movement of the patient throughout a building, or for safety during transport to a medical facility. The members of L3827 unanimously approved a proposal to acquire and donate the LUCAS 3 Device at a cost of approximately $19,000, to the North Greece Fire District. A donation that will truly provide a measurable difference for those suffering from a cardiac arrest event and their potential survivability. This donation also displays the unprecedented working relationship that the Firefighter’s Union proudly maintains with the North Greece Fire District and our commitment to our resident’s and visitor’s health and safety that we protect 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
